Accepting (or declining) a connection request

Last reviewed 2026-05-15 · About a 1 minute read

When someone sends you a connection request, you'll see a small notification on the bell. Here's what to do with it.

Where to find the request

Click the bell icon and click the request. Or, open Connections from the sidebar — every pending request is listed under Connection Requests with Accept and Reject buttons.

Accepting

Click Accept. The connection is made and the other person is told. From now on you can message each other.

Declining

Click Reject. The request goes away. The other person isn't told you declined — the request just disappears from their view.

Should I accept everyone?

There's no rule. Many volunteers connect freely with people in their city groups but more carefully with strangers. Use whatever level of caution fits you.

What if the request feels off?

If the request feels rude, hostile, or inappropriate, reject it and report the person from their profile. See the safety help articles for how to report someone.

Changing your mind later

There's no remove-connection button on the connections page today. If you accept and later regret it, press No, this didn't help below to send us a message and we'll help.
