Contacting the organizer

Sometimes you'll want to ask the organizer a question — about parking, what to bring, whether kids are welcome. Here's how that works.

As an attendee — find the organizer

Open the event page. The "Organized by [name]" line near the top links to the organizer's profile. There's no dedicated "Message" button on the event itself, so to start a conversation, click the name to open their profile and use the inbox to send them a 1:1 message. If your question would also help other attendees ("is parking free?"), post it in the related group instead. Everyone benefits from the answer.

As an organizer — message attendees

The organizer of an event sees a Message attendees button in the "Who's coming" panel on the event page. It opens a composer where you pick a scope, type a message, and send. Each attendee gets the message in their inbox and by email.

Before the event, the available scopes are:

  • People who said Yes
  • Yes and Maybe
  • Everyone who responded (Yes, Maybe, and No) — used sparingly, e.g. cancellation notices.

After the event ends, the composer switches to follow-up scopes:

  • People who were checked in
  • Checked-in attendees and any Maybes who didn't attend
  • Everyone who said Yes (use this if you didn't run check-in on event day).

Messaging just one shift

If the event has volunteer time slots, open the shift roster from the organizer view of the event and use the broadcast action there to message just the volunteers signed up for that shift. This keeps the inbox quiet for people who don't need that update.

After-event follow-up

The follow-up scopes become available once the event has ended. Use them for a thank-you note, a photo album link, or anything that fits.
