Changing your profile photo

Last reviewed 2026-05-15 · About a 2 minute read

A friendly photo helps other volunteers recognize you, especially at in-person events.

Step 1 — Open your profile

Click your name or photo at the bottom of the sidebar to open your profile page.

Step 2 — Pick a photo

In the Personal Information card, click your current photo (the round avatar) or the Change Photo link just below it. Your computer or phone opens its file picker — choose a JPEG, PNG, GIF, or WebP image. (HEIC photos from iPhone aren't accepted, so convert first if you need to.)

Step 3 — Crop and zoom

A Change Profile Picture window opens with your image. Drag the image to pan it inside the square crop area, and use the Zoom slider below to zoom in or out. A grid overlay helps you line things up.

Step 4 — Save the photo

Press Save Photo. The new photo appears everywhere within a few seconds. (Heads up: the site saves the result as a JPEG, so a PNG with a transparent background will end up with a solid one.)

What makes a good photo

Look at the camera, smile, and use plenty of light. A square photo of just your face works best — full-body photos get cropped very small.

If the upload fails, try a smaller file (under 10 MB), or press No, this didn't help below to send us a message if it keeps failing.
