Volunteer agreement key points
This article is a plain-language guide to the Volunteer Agreement and Code of Conduct. It is not legal advice, and it does not replace the agreement itself. If you need the exact wording, read the full agreement page.
Mission and volunteer relationship
The agreement describes Forever Canadian as a non-partisan, citizen-driven civic movement focused on Alberta's place in a strong, united, sovereign Canada. It says the movement is not affiliated with any political party, candidate, or electoral campaign.
It also says your role is voluntary and unpaid. Accepting the agreement does not make you an employee, contractor, partner, joint venture, or agent of the movement.
Code of conduct
The code of conduct asks volunteers to act with integrity and respect toward supporters, members of the public, and other volunteers.
It also asks volunteers to help create an inclusive environment free from discrimination, harassment, aggression, or inappropriate conduct; communicate responsibly; follow reasonable guidance from movement leadership; protect information; and report risks or damaging conduct to movement leads.
Confidential information
The agreement says volunteers may see private, personal, confidential, or other non-public information. Examples include supporter and donor data, internal communications and records, strategic plans, and technical architecture.
The agreement says to protect that information, not use it for a personal or unauthorized purpose, not disclose or misuse it unless authorized, and keep protecting it even after your volunteer role ends.
Contributions
If you create materials for the movement, the agreement says you keep ownership of your contributions.
It also says you give the movement a broad licence to use, copy, modify, distribute, display, and build on those contributions for purposes connected to the movement's mission.
Technology and property
If you use movement technology, the agreement says to use it responsibly, protect its security and integrity, avoid unapproved third-party tools, and report suspected data breaches or misuse.
If your volunteering ends, or if the movement asks, the agreement says to return physical property and permanently delete copies of confidential information in your possession.
General terms
The agreement says it covers all volunteer activities and is the entire understanding between you and the movement. It also says either side may end the volunteer engagement at any time, and that the agreement is governed by Alberta law and Canadian federal law.
