Adding a title to your name

Last reviewed 2026-09-11 · About a 4 minute read

If you hold a role in the campaign — leading a centre, coordinating deliveries, running sign drops for your area — you can show it next to your name. People reading the feed then know who is coordinating without having to ask.

Adding your title

  1. Go to My Profile.
  2. In Personal Information, select Edit.
  3. Type your role in the Title box — something like Edmonton Lead or Centre Lead, Sherwood Park.
  4. Pick an Icon if you'd like one. It's optional.
  5. Select Save.

As you type, a preview appears underneath showing exactly how you'll look to everyone else. What you see there is what other people see — it isn't an approximation.

Where your title appears

Next to your name wherever your full name is shown. That is now most of the site: your posts and comments, your profile, group member lists, the notifications people get about you, event shift rosters, support tickets you file or handle, connection and invitation lists, the people who liked something, and the participant chips in a group message.

It does not appear in emails or notifications. Those address you by your first name, and a role in the middle of a sentence reads as noise.

A few places show your name but not your title, on purpose:

  • Pages that deliberately show only part of your name. The centres page shows "Susan N." and a group message is titled "Susan, Bob and 3 others". Those hold back part of your name deliberately, and a role would undo it — there is usually only one Edmonton Lead named Susan.
  • Lists you pick from. When you @-mention someone, search for a member, or choose people to add to a message, the list shows names only. You are scanning for one name among many there, and a role on every row competes with the thing you are looking for.

Keeping it short

Titles are limited to 40 characters. On a phone, anything past about 30 characters is shortened with a "…" so it never pushes your name out of view. Nothing is lost when that happens — hover over the title, or press and hold it on a phone, and the whole thing appears.

If your role genuinely doesn't fit, shorten the place rather than the role — Mobile Delivery Coordinator, Calgary reads better than a version that gets cut off mid-word.

You can use letters, numbers, spaces, and , . & ' - ( ) /. Web addresses and email addresses aren't allowed — a title is a role, not a place to put contact details.

Changing or removing it

Edit it any time, as often as you like. To remove it, clear the box and save — your name goes back to appearing exactly as it did before, with nothing left behind.

A note on what a title means

A title is something you write about yourself. The platform doesn't check it, and it isn't a permission — it doesn't give you access to anything you didn't already have. It's a description, the way you'd introduce yourself at a meeting.

That's also why it's shown quietly, in plain grey, rather than as a coloured badge. The Creator and Admin badges you see in groups are different: those are roles the platform grants, and they look different so the two aren't confused.

If you see a title that isn't true, you can report the profile the same way you'd report anything else — use the ⋯ menu on their profile and choose Report. An administrator can remove a title.
