Signing up for a popup shift

Last reviewed 2026-06-12 · About a 2 minute read

Some popups ask volunteers to sign up for specific shifts — "set-up at 9 a.m.", "front table at noon", "tear-down at 4 p.m." This lets you cover the day together instead of one person doing it all.

How to see the shifts

Open the popup's page and scroll down to the Volunteer time slots heading. Each shift appears as a row under the day it belongs to, showing the time, an optional label (like "front table"), and a count line — for example "3 of 8 signed up", or just "3 signed up" if there's no cap.

Signing up

Click Sign up on the shift you can cover. A dialog opens titled Sign up for this shift with the date, time, an optional note field, and a Confirm signup button. Add a quick note if there's something the host should know ("running ten minutes late", "happy to bring my own folding table"), then confirm to add yourself.

If you're already on an overlapping shift

If the new shift overlaps another one you've already claimed, the dialog warns you — "You're already signed up for another shift that overlaps this time. Sign up anyway?" — and the button changes to Sign up anyway. Use that only if you really mean to cover both.

Capacity

Each shift can have a slot cap. When all slots are taken, the Sign up button changes to Full and the shift can't be joined until someone drops.

Cancelling your signup

Plans changed? Open the popup and click Cancel my signup on the shift you'd claimed. The slot opens up for someone else right away. You can also manage every shift you've claimed from My popup shifts in the sidebar.

Reminder emails

You'll get a reminder the day before any shift you're signed up for. The reminder repeats the time and any notes the host added to the shift.

Stuck?

If a shift won't accept your signup or the page doesn't show slots you expect, contact support.
