Handing out lawn signs at events
At a Forever Canadian event there are two ways to give someone a lawn sign, and both finish the same way: you record the hand-off on your phone in the Team app. This article is the text walkthrough — for a picture-by-picture version you can also print and bring to the table, open the Handing Out Lawn Signs guide under Resources.
Before the event: sign in to the Team app
Sign in once, before you leave for the event, so you are not fighting with a sign-in link at a busy table. You stay signed in for weeks.
- On your phone, open
team.forever-canadian.ca. - Choose Sign In to My Account, type the email you registered with, and request the sign-in link.
- Open the email from Team Forever Canadian and tap the Sign In button inside it. (Check your spam or junk folder if it has not arrived after a minute.)
If no email ever arrives, your account may not be set up yet — ask your event lead.
Stream 1 — the supporter already signed up
Most supporters at an event have already registered and will show you
a "You're registered!" screen on their own phone, with a large QR code
and a short code like FC-7Q4M.
- Ask the supporter to show that QR screen.
- Scan the QR code with your camera, or open Verify Requests in
the menu and type the four characters after
FC-. - The app confirms the supporter is verified and asks How many signs are you handing over? Tap a number (1, 2, 3, 5, or 10), or use the Other option to type any amount.
- Tap the red Record hand-off button.
- You will see a green check confirming the hand-off was recorded. For the next person, tap Enter another code.
Stream 2 — registering a walk-up on the spot
If someone has not signed up yet, they register on their own phone first, then it becomes a normal pickup.
- On the supporter's phone, go to
forever-canadian.caand choose the "Yes — I'm at an event" option, then fill in their name, email, and Alberta postal code. (A QR poster on your table can take them straight there.) - They submit the form and open the verification link emailed to them. In a hurry, they can ask for a 5-digit code by text instead. The email link expires after 30 minutes. Text-message codes expire after 10 minutes.
- The same "You're registered!" screen appears with their QR code.
- Finish exactly like Stream 1: scan the code and record the hand-off.
If you don't see "verified"
- Not verified yet — ask the supporter to finish on their phone (their email link or the texted code), then scan again.
- This request expired — their time ran out; ask them to sign up again at forever-canadian.ca, then check in.
- Code not recognized — double-check the QR or the
FC-XXXXcode and try again. - Couldn't look that up — a connection hiccup, not the supporter. Wait a moment and try again; check your internet if it keeps happening.
Any of these? Tap Enter another code and try again.
Fixing a wrong number
Handed over the wrong count? On the green confirmation screen, tap Update count, pick the right number, and tap Record hand-off again. It safely replaces the old number.
Stuck?
If the app will not verify a supporter who has clearly registered, or a hand-off will not record, reach out to support or your event lead.
