Pinned posts on the feed

Last reviewed 2026-05-16 · About a 2 minute read

Sometimes you'll see a post at the very top of the feed with a small Pinned label, a pin icon, and a left border in the brand colour. Here's what that means.

What pinning does

A pinned post stays at the top of the feed for everyone, no matter how many newer posts come along. It stays there until an admin unpins it.

Only one post can be pinned to the national feed at a time — pinning a new post automatically unpins the previous one.

Who can pin

Pinning a post on the national feed is a team-only action — restricted to Forever Canadian staff. We typically pin a quick announcement, an important reminder, or something everyone should see this week.

How long do pins last

There's no automatic expiry. A pin stays up until staff take it down. Most come down within a few days; we don't want the top of the feed to feel stale.

Group pins are different

Inside a city group, the group's admins can pin posts to that group's feed. Those pins are only visible inside that group.

Can I pin my own post?

Not on the national feed. Inside a group you've created or where you're an admin, yes — see the article on pinned posts in a group for that.

Can I hide a pinned post?

There's no per-person "hide" yet. If a pinned post breaks our rules, you can report it from its three-dot menu like any other post.
