The message editor
The message editor is the box you type into when you're replying inside a conversation in your inbox.
Showing the formatting toolbar
The toolbar is hidden by default to keep the editor clean. Click the small letter-shaped icon in the bottom row of the editor (tooltip: Show formatting) to reveal it. The toolbar offers B (bold), I (italic), underline, a heading style, bulleted and numbered lists, link, and undo / redo buttons.
Adding a link
Type or paste a web address (starting with http). The editor
turns it into a clickable link automatically. To link from custom
text, highlight the text first and click the link button in the
formatting toolbar.
Mentioning someone
Type @ in any conversation — one-to-one or group — and start typing a name. A short list appears; click the right person to add the tag. They'll get an extra notification for that message specifically.
Adding an attachment
Click the paperclip icon in the bottom row to attach a photo or file. (The paperclip only appears in replies inside an existing conversation — the first message in a brand-new conversation doesn't allow attachments yet.) See the attaching-a-file-to-a-message article for the full walk-through.
Sending vs. new line
Enter by itself adds a new line. Press the round send button on the right of the bottom row (it's an upward arrow icon), or use Cmd+Enter / Ctrl+Enter to send. Messages can be up to 10,000 characters long.
Can I edit or delete a message I sent?
You can edit a message you sent from the inbox. Open the conversation and use the pencil icon beside your message timestamp (tooltip: Edit message). Make your changes, then click Save. Click Cancel to close the editor without saving.
Edited messages show an edited marker beside the timestamp. Click that marker to open Edit history, where participants can see the current version and previous versions of the message. You can't edit someone else's message or system messages. Message deletion is not available.
