Using the onboarding stepper

Last reviewed 2026-05-15 · About a 2 minute read

The first time you sign in, the site walks you through a short series of screens — sometimes called the onboarding stepper. It asks for the basics so the rest of the site knows who you are and where you live.

What it asks

There are four screens, in order:

  1. Personal Info — your first name, last name, and a few profile details.
  2. Address — your home address. This is what places you in the right local group.
  3. Terms — a short review and accept of our terms.
  4. Complete — a quick thank-you screen that hands you off to your main feed.

Each screen has a Continue button at the bottom that takes you to the next one.

You can take your time

If you need to step away, close the tab. The next time you sign in, the stepper picks up where you left off.

Terms are required

You can't skip the Terms step. If you decline, the rest of the site stays locked. Personal info and address fields also need to be filled in to continue.

When the stepper finishes

After the Complete screen, you'll see a short welcome message and then land on your main feed. From there, everything in the sidebar — Feed, Events, Inbox, Connections, Groups, Resources, and your Profile — is open to you.

Want to revisit your info?

You can update your name and profile from the Personal Information section of your Profile page, and your address from the Address section right below it. The stepper itself is a one-time tour; the same information is editable any time.

A required field won't save

If a step won't let you continue, look for a red message under one of the boxes. The most common cause is a missing required field. If you're stuck, contact support and tell us which step.
