The backgrounder

Last reviewed 2026-05-16 · About a 2 minute read

The backgrounder is a short reading kit you can use to brief a new volunteer or hand to a neighbour who's curious about what the campaign is.

Where to find it

Click Resources in the sidebar and then Backgrounder.

What's in it

The page is organized into five tabs across the top: Overview, The Challenge, Our Message, Strategy, and Get Involved. Click a tab to switch sections — plain language, designed for someone who's never heard of us before.

The content is centred on Alberta in Canada, so it doubles as a quick orientation to where the campaign is most active.

How to share it

Click Download PDF at the top right of the page. This opens your browser's print dialog with the whole backgrounder (all five tabs) composed into a single printable layout. Choose Save as PDF as the destination — or print it directly if you want a paper copy to hand out.

When to use it

The backgrounder shines as a leave-behind after a coffee chat — your friend takes it home and reads it at their pace. It's also great for handing to a journalist or a local politician who wants context before a conversation.

Voice

The backgrounder is written for everyone, not just supporters. It explains rather than persuades. If you find yourself asked "what's this about?", the backgrounder is the friendliest short answer.

Updates

The backgrounder is reviewed every few months. The version on the site is always the current one — don't keep stale printed copies for too long.

Stuck?
